Blackberry PlayBook – A Powerful Tablet.

Blackberry PlayBook – One the powerful tablet I seen after Apple iPad. And the very first thought in mind was – “yes, here is the option for Apple iPad”.

Running on 1GHz Dual core Processor and 1 GB RAM, Blackberry Playbook gives you powerful performance with support of New BlackBerry Tablet OS. It has 7” WSVGA Display, with 1024×600 resolution. This delivers some sharp display content. For me, display is vibrant and bright with good contrast. Virtual QWERTY Keyboard gives you almost same experience of typing on your favorites Blackberry mobiles. As the device is just 7” in size, I feel it easy to type on keyboard as you can easily use your thumbs to type as compare to typing on 10” screen of iPad. I think Touch screen is one of the important part when it comes to tablet computers. And Blackberry Playbook definitely gives you more than expected.

PlayBook has a Micro USB port, so you can connect it to your personal computer for data transfer. Or you can also connect it to HD device using micro HDMI port. It also has 3.5mm headset Jack to tune into your favorite music. Being smaller in size has made the device comfortable to hold, through its not possible to put it inside your pocket.

I will say browser is the best feature I found in PlayBook. You can access windows based services just like MS-Office by pointing your device at Windows Live Skydrive, this gives you the option to use the tools online. And if you are a net savvy person then PlayBook got a browser which you will definitely get addict to. PlayBook definitely gives you almost the same desktop environment. JavaScript and Flash performance on PlayBook are awesome. You can watch videos and play your favorite flash games easily.

Smaller size of device also helps when it comes to camera. You can comfortably shoot for longer time with this light-weight device. Playbook has 5MP rear-facing and 3MP front-facing cameras, both capable of shooting at 1080p HD. Whether you are using it for images or video both the functions actually performs well.

The only area where Playbook lacks is applications. Smart phones and Tablets are famous for their supporting software’s where range crosses thousands. But same is not the case with Playbook. So I hope Blackberry will come up with solution for this soon, or else device will be limited for certain use only. Another drawback is, currently only Wi-Fi version is available. For 3G supportable device, you need to wait at least later 2011. One more fact is that, Playbook has a Lithium-ion 5400 mAh battery, which is not that good as you expect a tablet might have.

Playbook is available with price ranges from $499 for 16GB, $599 for 32GB and $699 for 64GB. Which is I think affordable to buy with some of the effective features included in device.

Device is mainly targeted for enterprise use. Yes, it lacks when it comes to applications, but applications are being developed and you will soon get them in AppWorld. Device is at affordable price, its light weight and even lot easier to carry around. So, at the end I will say Blackberry PlayBook is definitely worth of buy.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc – Beauty to have.

One of the stylish mobile handset I even seen, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is a powerful Android smartphone with impressive 4.2” LED capacitive touchscreen. Having such a big screen, Sony Ericson Xperia Arc is unbelievably thin and light. This stylish smart-phone comes with dimension of 125 x 63 x 8.7 mm and overall weight around 117 gm. There are buttons on the side for volume control and camera, and it has three standard buttons on the front. The back panel of the Xperia Arc looks simple and with its curved case making it looks awesome.

The 4.5” LED 480 x 854 pixels display gives you bright and sharp results. It supports 16M colors and phone is enabled with Multi-touch input method. It also has Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine which gives you quality output. Most impressive thing is, the screen is very usable in direct sunlight as compare to other smart-phones available in market. So, whether you are browsing the web or watching video it will always give you the best viewing experience. And a mini HDMI socket on the side gives you the connectivity option to flat-panel TVs for watching pictures and video.

Xperia Arc has the second generation 1GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon and Operates on Android OS v 2.3 Gingerbird. Phone has many pre-installed software’s and having Android gives you power of choose from thousands supportable ones.

Another impressive feature of Xperia Arc is the camera. It has a good-quality 8.1-megapixel camera, which is optimized for taking pictures in low-light. It beats Sony’s award-winning Exmor R sensor that, coupled with the f/2.4 lens, enables the capture of high-quality, bright pictures and HD videos even in low light situations. Arc can capture images with resolution of 3264×2448 pixels and has the various features like Autofocus, Image Stabilization, Geo Tagging, Face and Smile Detection etc. It can record a HD Videos with 720p@30fp with continuous autofocus and video light.

Battery life of Arc seems very good. On Stand-by mode it gives you power Up to 430 h (2G) / Up to 400h (3G), and on talk time mode it runs Up to 7 h (2G) / Up to 7 h(3G). While it will give you MusicPlay Upto 31 h.

Overall Sony Experia Arc is a beauty to have. Phone is available with price range of around Rs 30000/- to Rs 35000/- . There are many smart-phones available in market with the cheaper price range, but you can’t compare them with this beautifully made device. It has everything you need, and with so many features you can mark this one as a flagship device from Sony Ericsson.

Nokia N9 – New Smart-Phone with old OS

Nokia announced its New Nokia N9, a Meego based smart-phone device in Nokia Connection 2011 event in Singapore. The world’s first touch screen smart-phone device without any front-facing button. All you need to use the Nokia N9 is a simple gesture and a swipe of the finger. It is an intuitive way to use all the different features and functions. Whenever you are in an application, just swipe from the edge of the screen to go back home. Available in three colors – black, cyan, and magenta, they should have included some more colors as only cyan looks better.

Nokia N9

“With the Nokia N9, we wanted to design a better way to use a phone. To do this we innovated in the design of the hardware and software together. We reinvented the home key with a simple gesture: a swipe from the edge of the screen. The experience sets a new bar for how natural technology can feel,” “And this is just the beginning. The details that make the Nokia N9 unique – the industrial design, the all-screen user experience, and the expressive Qt framework for developers – will evolve
in future Nokia products.” this what said by Mr. Marko Ahtisaari, Nokia’s head of Design in the press release.

The intresting fact about N9 is, the body of the nokia N9 is made from unibody polycarbonate material and there are no front-facing buttons on device. Nokia calls it a polycarbonate in order to highlight the fact that this isn’t just any plastic material, having the sharp looks to keep users happy as well.

N9 runs on 1GHz processor with 1GB RAM power. It operates on Meego 1.2 Harmattan OS which is bit old but still an interesting interface to operate on. With an 3.9″ AMOLED Display, a Capacitive touch screen of N9 gives you the best veiwing experience. It gives you the impression like applications are really floating on the screen. It also have an Anti-glare polariser.

The New Nokia N9 has the latest Version of Nokia Maps for free, with voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation for walking and driving. Its gonna be NFC-enabled. that means you can connect your Nokia N9 with any NFC-enabled accessories. Do Bluetooth pairing once and after that you can connect to them just by touching. You can share photos orbusiness cards via NFC.

With so many features included in a single device, Nokia N9 will be missing out on some really big ones. Even if N9 features
an 8 megapixel camera, its still missing out a12 megapixel one ason the N8, and along with that N9 only gets an LED-based flash, it doesn’t have a Xenon flash which could have made the difference. Although LED flash of N9 seems better with 20 percent increase in lighting, still nothing beats Xenon. Nokia has also added a non destructive photo editing feature to the N9. This means that users can revert to an original image at any time. New features also allows you to edit the image in preview
mode.It includes some othe features like Auto focus, Video, Geo tagging, LED Video light, Face & Smile detection VGA Secondary Camera for Video call, Dual LEd flash with Screen Display – 4.0 inches, 360×640 pixels.

Nokia N9

I will say the phone give has an average battery power with comparing to other smart-phones devices available in the market. Many of the Nokia devices scores low on battery performance and this one falls in same category. They should work more on this issue to increase the bar. 1320 mAh battery gives you Talk time: (GSM/WCDMA) up to 11 h / up to 7 hours, Standby time: Up to 450 hours (WCDMA), up to 380 hours (GSM), Video playback (720P): up to 4.5 hours and Music playback: up to 50 hours.

At this point the device seems great but with so many smart-phone arriving in the market in near by future, i don’t know where this Meego device will stood. It offers you everything you need, but still missing out an extra ordinary factor to make this device special apart from the no buttons and swipe technology used. Overall mobile looks good and the touchscreen works better than the previous touchscreen models launched by Nokia.
